Jared Calderwood is a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist from the internationally acclaimed Equissage in Round Hill, Virginia.

Equissage is the country’s leading, and only internationally acclaimed, equine massage school. After his education and achievements at Equissage, he earned his certificate and was ready to help the horses that helped him so long ago.

 

Starting off slow Jared worked with his own barn's show horses. His skills helped improve both the performance and disposition of all the horses he worked on. Faced with life challenges, he had to move to Rhode Island. There he started working with a friend, who entered into the Massachusetts Extreme Mustang Makeover Challenge. Equal Balance Equine Massage sponsored a mustang for the duration with one massage a week for the duration. The sponsored mustang came in 5th overall in the 2017 EMM! It was also commented on how sore the majority of horses were by the end of the weekend, while the mustang sponsored didn't show an ounce of soreness anywhere. Equal Balance Equine Massage has promised to continue sponsoring the EMM and the trainer for as long as she decides to compete, as Jared learned a great deal from his experience.

Today, he has had countless happy horse clients and is known around New England for his outstanding work and wonderful treatment of his clients. Jared takes time to understand each horse on a deep level to better assess their needs. He performs a comprehensive evaluation prior to the massage including; thermal Imaging, direct pressure evaluation, and observation of work.
